Why Rendez-Vous French Bakery is One of My Favorite Spots in Sarasota

When people ask me where I like to meet up with friends for a quick coffee and something sweet, my first answer is almost always Rendez-Vous French Bakery. There is just something special about it. It’s one of those places that feels like a little slice of Europe tucked right into Sarasota — and once you go once, you totally get it.

I love Rendez-Vous because it’s so easy and convenient. Located right off Clark Road near the Gulf Gate area, it’s never out of the way, whether I’m showing homes nearby, running errands, or just looking for a spot to catch up with friends. Seriously, even if I didn’t have plans, I’d probably invent a reason to swing by.

Now, full honesty — Rendez-Vous does get busy. Especially on weekends or right around brunch time, the line can sometimes stretch out the door. But you know what? I actually love that. It feels like a sign that you’re in the right place. It’s that everybody’s-here-for-the-good-stuff kind of vibe that somehow makes your coffee and croissant taste even better. Plus, the team there is very efficient, and it always feels worth the short wait.

What I really love is the atmosphere. It’s relaxed but lively — the kind of spot where you’ll see people having deep conversations over lattes, parents grabbing pastries for kids in soccer uniforms, and friends laughing over second (or third) cappuccinos. You can totally show up in yoga pants or jeans and feel right at home. It’s just easy, welcoming, and real.

The food, of course, is incredible. Their croissants are the real deal — buttery, flaky, and just the right amount of chewy inside. Their almond croissants are probably my favorite. And don’t even get me started on their baguettes. Everything tastes fresh, handmade, and tasty.

Another reason I love meeting people at Rendez-Vous? The location is very convenient. If we feel like hanging out longer, Gulf Gate shops and even Siesta Key are just a short drive away.

Another great place I forgot to mention is Bread Bandits. If you are a bread lover, Bread Bandits is a must-visit in Sarasota. They specialize in hand-crafted, small-batch breads that are truly next level — think crusty sourdough loaves, rustic baguettes, and perfectly soft sandwich breads. Everything they make is baked with high-quality ingredients and serious attention to detail, giving each loaf that authentic, artisanal feel you usually only find in big city bakeries. Bread Bandits is known for their long fermentation process. Love visiting this place. Also their pastries are one of the best pastries in Sarasota. So, this concludes this blog post about the best bakeries around Sarasota, Florida.

If you haven’t been in these places yet, do yourself a favor and go — but fair warning, you might end up just as obsessed as I am.
